HOW CLEAN UP WEEK WORKS
The Glass Packaging Forum/Coca-Cola KNZB Week takes place from 20th -27th August 2011. It’s easy to get involved, simply join an organised Clean Up Event in your area, or set up your own Clean Up Event that other people can come along to. Once you’ve registered a clean up event we’ll send you everything you need to carry out your clean up (bags, gloves, certificates for participants, evaluation form) and you can download the “Event Guide” with heaps of information about how to conduct a clean up, health and safety/first aid information etc in the registration process. It's easy to register just click on either of the links below, follow the simple steps, and we’ll be in touch with everything else you need to make it happen!

-
What do we do with the rubbish/recycling after our Clean Up Event?
- Please check back for this information.
-
What if the weather is poor on our scheduled Clean Up Day?
- If you think you’ll have to postpone your Clean Up Event, try to log onto the Glass Packaging Forum/Coca-Cola KNZB Week site as soon as possible and update your Clean Up Event details, that way we’ll email everyone participating to let them know the new details.
-
What if someone is injured during our Clean Up Event?
- First and foremost, make sure they’re OK and seek any medical treatment that might be needed. In the Glass Packaging Forum/Coca-Cola KNZB Week Event Guide you’ll find basic first aid instructions, but try to seek professional help as soon as possible if it’s necessary. If anything unfortunate does happen, please fill in the Incident Report Form and return to Keep New Zealand Beautiful as soon as possible.
-
Why is it important to wear gloves when conducting our Clean up Event?
- Basically, because we’re handling rubbish. While out in the environment, we’re not sure what it’s been exposed to – so for the health and safety of you and your Clean Up Event participants we ask that everyone protects themselves by wearing gloves and washing their hands immediately after the Clean Up Event is finished.
-
What if we can’t complete the Clean Up Event during 20th -27th August but still want to have a Clean Up Event?
- Not a problem! Even if you can’t carry out your Clean Up Event during 20th -27th August but still want to do a Clean Up, register as you normally would through the site, we’ll send you all the resources you need and send us the evaluation form once you’re done!
-
Why have I received two different coloured bags?
- As well as collecting rubbish, it’s about minimising the amount of it that has to go to landfill also. So, if you’re able to separate both – the blue bag is for recycling, and the black one is for general rubbish. For an overview of what’s-what and what to do with it click here.
-
What happens if I have had additional people join my Clean Up Event and I need more resources?

-
How do I advertise/promote my Clean Up Event?
- Download, print and place Clean Up Event posters around your community.
